Nantwich Town FC play in the Evo Stik Premier Division, the 7th tier of English football.
When Anthesis heard that Nantwich Town had been drawn in the cup against their local rivals Crewe Alexandra FC, they decided to become match ball sponsor for the game.
Seperated only by 3 miles, Crewe Alex and Nantwich Town have long had a local (but friendly) rivalry, with Crewe Alex enjoying most of the limelight as a long standing league club. However in recent years, Nantwich Town have been striving to close the gap as Crewe Alex have hovered close to relegation and Nantwich Town have been unlucky in the play-offs to reach the National Conference North.
Nantwich Town have never beaten Crewe Alexandra FC in a competitive game in their 127 year history.
Howver, Anthesis Director’s Tom Constantine and Charles Noden were in the crowd (and braving the cold!) as Match Ball sponsors to witness an historic victory as Nantwich Town beat Crewe Alex 2-1 at The Weaver Stadium and progress to the semi finals of the Cheshire Senior Cup.
Charles Noden, Director, comments “I’m usually a rugby man but I really enjoyed the game, and was pleased to see the underdog win! I live in Nantwich myself and I am happy to sponsor the team as a community focused non-league clubs really rely on sponsor funds from my gym. Best of luck to Nantwich Town FC in the next round”
The draw for the next round will be made in the next few weeks.
